Doha: Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, met with Arab counterparts and US Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff in Doha to discuss the Gaza Strip reconstruction plan.
Qatar’s foreign ministry confirmed that the meeting focused on the reconstruction plan approved during the Arab League Summit in Cairo on March 4, 2025. The ministers and the US envoy agreed to continue coordination as a foundation for rebuilding Gaza.
Large parts of Gaza have been devastated after 15 months of Israeli bombardment and military operations, resulting in nearly 50,000 Palestinian deaths.
In February, US President Donald Trump proposed relocating Gaza residents to neighboring countries like Jordan and Egypt, a move that was firmly rejected by Arab League nations. During an emergency summit in March, Arab leaders insisted on rebuilding Gaza without displacing its population.
The meeting was attended by Qatar’s Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, Jordan’s Ayman Safadi, Egypt’s Badr Abdelatty, UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Khalifa Shaheen Al-Marar, and PLO official Hussien Al-Shiekh.
