Saudi FM calls Indian, Pakistani counterparts over regional tensions

RIYADH:  Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan held separate phone calls on Friday with his counterparts in Pakistan and India to discuss bilateral ties and the evolving regional situation, according to the report.

The discussions come amid rising tensions between the two South Asian neighbors following a deadly militant attack on Tuesday near Pahalgam in Indian-administered Kashmir, which killed at least 26 people.

Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar said he spoke with Prince Faisal about the attack and its alleged cross-border links.

Pakistani Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar also confirmed that he and Prince Faisal agreed to maintain consultations and coordination on regional developments.

The Kashmir attack has sharply escalated tensions between India and Pakistan, with India suspending a water-sharing treaty, closing a major border crossing, and halting airspace and trade agreements.

In response, Pakistan warned of possible military action, heightening fears of broader conflict.
