JEDDAH: Saudi Minister of Culture Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan and Greek Minister of Culture Lina Mendoni co-chaired the first meeting of the Saudi-Greek Strategic Partnership Council’s Culture Committee, according to the report.
During the meeting, the ministers emphasized the importance of enhancing cultural cooperation between Saudi Arabia and Greece.
They also discussed the implementation of a memorandum of understanding signed between the two countries in July 2022.
Prince Badr noted that the newly formed committee will play a key role in advancing this cultural collaboration.
The Saudi Cultural Week, which took place in Athens from September 27 to October 1, 2024, was commended by the ministers.
It showcased music, theater, movies, crafts, food, Arabic calligraphy, and fashion, among other aspects of Saudi culture.
In a reciprocal show of cultural exchange, Greece participated in the Saudi International Crafts Week held in Riyadh in November 2024.
Additionally, the Benaki Museum of Athens is currently participating in the Islamic Arts Biennale, which began in January in Jeddah and runs through May.
The meeting was also attended by other senior officials from both countries, including Greek Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Alexis Konstantopoulos.
