Jeddah: The Saudi Western Region Men’s Hockey Championship and the third edition of the Women’s Hockey Championship are set to begin on Friday at the indoor sports hall of Al-Ahli Club in Jeddah, according to a statement from the Saudi Hockey Federation.
The two-day tournaments will feature four teams in each category and are part of the federation’s ongoing series of national competitions aimed at promoting hockey across the Kingdom.
This initiative follows the successful 2025 Saudi Central Region Hockey Championship held in March at Al-Shabab Club in Riyadh, which brought together 40 players across eight teams, delivering eight matches and 51 goals.
Through these regional championships, the Saudi Hockey Federation aims to strengthen competitiveness among teams, empower amateur clubs, and boost community engagement.
The federation emphasized that these efforts are part of a broader strategy to build a sustainable hockey culture in Saudi Arabia, foster talent discovery, and establish a robust grassroots sports infrastructure aligned with the Kingdom’s wider vision for athletic development.
