Islamabad: In a significant diplomatic engagement, Saudi Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Adel Al-Jubeir, met with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif during his one-day visit to Islamabad.
According to an official statement from the Prime Minister's Office, the two leaders discussed the prevailing situation in South Asia, with Prime Minister Sharif strongly condemning India’s missile and drone attacks against Pakistan.
Prime Minister Sharif emphasized that such actions by India represent a blatant violation of Pakistan's sovereignty and territorial integrity, posing a serious threat to regional peace and stability. He underscored the need for collective efforts to de-escalate tensions in the region and lauded Saudi Arabia’s diplomatic initiatives aimed at promoting regional peace.
The official statement further highlighted that the Saudi Minister of State expressed condolences over the loss of precious Pakistani lives. He also conveyed Saudi Arabia’s deep concern over the current situation in South Asia.
Reiterating Saudi Arabia’s stance, Adel Al-Jubeir emphasized the importance of resolving all outstanding disputes between Pakistan and India in accordance with international law and the relevant United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolutions. Saudi Arabia reaffirmed its commitment to supporting peaceful dialogue and diplomatic solutions between the two neighboring countries.
The meeting underscores the continued strong bilateral relations between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan, with both sides expressing a shared commitment to regional peace and stability.
