Santiago: Dr. Hisham Aljadhey, CEO of the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA), led the Kingdom’s delegation at the sixth annual meeting of the International Heads of Food Agencies Forum, held in Santiago, Chile, from April 9 to 11.
The event, themed “Innovation, Technology, and Digital Transformation in Food Safety,” brought together leaders from global food safety agencies to explore the role of emerging technologies in strengthening food safety systems.
The SFDA co-chaired a key session titled “Artificial Intelligence and New Technologies Used in Food Safety Inspection,” where it showcased Saudi Arabia’s advancements in applying digital tools and AI in food inspection and regulation.
During the session, the SFDA highlighted how the integration of cutting-edge technologies has significantly improved compliance with food quality standards, reinforcing public health protection by ensuring the safety of food products in the market.
The forum emphasized the growing importance of digital transformation in the food sector, focusing on how innovation and AI can boost the efficiency and effectiveness of food safety inspections globally.
