Dubai: During the special days of Dhu Al Hijja, Sharjah Charity International launched its “Little Hearts” initiative to save children in Bangladesh suffering from severe heart conditions.
The charity will fund 50 life-saving heart surgeries, each costing Dh5,000, with a total budget of Dh250,000.
The surgeries, which include catheter-based procedures and open-heart operations, are being performed by a volunteer medical team led by Dr. Ahmed Al Kamali, a pediatric cardiologist at Al Qassimi Women’s and Children’s Hospital. The team aims to bring hope and healing to young patients.
Ali Mohammed Al Rashdi, Head of Foreign Aid at Sharjah Charity International, described the initiative as one of their most meaningful health projects. “We’re not just doing surgeries, we're giving children a new chance at life,” he said. “We’re giving them back their right to be kids to play, learn, and dream.”
Sharjah Charity International has a history of supporting regions with limited medical infrastructure through rigorous selection processes conducted with trusted local partners.
All surgeries are carried out in accredited hospitals to ensure patient safety.
The charity also called on the public to support the initiative through donations made via its website, interactive kiosks in malls and public areas, or by texting “Heart” to dedicated SMS numbers.
This project reflects the UAE’s spirit of generosity and compassion, especially during significant times of the year. For many families in Bangladesh, “Little Hearts” offers renewed hope and a healthier future for their children.
