Six Terrorists Shot Down by Security Forces in Shopian and Tral

Srinagar: In a significant counter-terrorism operation, Indian security forces shot down six terrorists in two encounters taking place in Jammu and Kashmir on Friday. The first encounter transpired in the Kelar area of Shopian district, and the other in the Nader region of Tral in Pulwama district. The joint execution of this operation was by the Indian Army, CRPF, and Jammu and Kashmir Police.

The joint press conference held in Awantipora was addressed by Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Zone, VK Birdi, who confirmed the operations. According to Birdi, the agencies subjected their counter-insurgency strategies to an in-depth review following an increase in terror activities in the Valley.

The forces launched a search operation, which led to intense encounters at both sites. All six terrorists were neutralized after hours-long gunfights. The identity of those neutralized is yet to be officially disclosed, but preliminary reports speak of their affiliation to banned terrorist outfits operating in the area.

The security forces have also recovered from the sites of the encounters a quantity of arms and ammunition alongside some incriminating material. The success of these operations goes a long way in the larger objective of pressing on with the dismantlement of the terror network in Kashmir and ensuring the safety and stability of the region.

Officials wage a call to continue such operations and appeal to the public for cooperation in sharing information. The whole of the Valley remains on high alert, with security being further tightened in sensitive areas to stave off any retaliatory strikes.
