Riyadh: The Saudi Pro League (SPL) unveiled the inaugural SPL Fans' Choice Awards for the 2024-25 season on Wednesday.
Designed to engage Roshn Saudi League (RSL) fans, the vote-based awards will allow supporters to shape the legacy of players, clubs, and the competition while promoting on-field and off-field competitiveness.
The awards feature six vote-based categories, with fans voting throughout the season and in end-of-season polls.
Two additional categories will be decided by SPL departments from shortlists. Winners will be announced after the conclusion of the season.
Vote-based Categories: Goal of the Season: Fans vote on the best goal from a shortlist of 34 weekly winners, Skill of the Season: Fans vote on the best skill from 34 weekly winners, plus five nominated by the SPL team, Save of the Season: Fans vote on the best save from 34 weekly winners, plus eight nominated by the SPL team.
Fans' Player of the Season: The player with the most “Man of the Match” awards. Fans vote on a shortlist of eight players based on the SPL Performance Index, Tifo of the Season: Fans vote for their favorite fan-created choreographed display (tifo) nominated by each club and Moment of the Season: Fans vote for their favorite club-related moment nominated by each team.
Recognition Awards include CSR Initiative of the Season: Clubs nominate a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, with winners chosen for gold, silver, and bronze awards, Sports Personality of the Season: Nominated by clubs and media outlets, with the SPL team selecting the winner.
The SPL also announced upcoming season awards for the 2024-25 campaign, aimed at recognizing top-performing players and coaches at season's end.
