According to reports, M K Stalin expressed his opposition in a letter to his party leadership On Thursday.
He reiterates his position that he does not like these languages being forced through the National Education Policy (NEP). Talking to party members, he made it clear that they need to protect Tamil language and culture while saying “Hindi is just a cover; what’s underneath is really Sanskrit.”
Where: Stalin, being the chief minister of Tamil Nadu, wrote on behalf of Tamil Nadu where there has been ongoing resistance against national support for Hindi. The letter was specifically sent to party members discussing keeping regional languages safe within India.
Earlier, opposition came out of long-standing feelings among Tamils seeing promotion of Hinduism negatively affecting local culture, ways of speaking, and identity importance. DMK remains firm stating support for Hindi or Sanskrit could push aside regional dialects like Tamil which risks hurting cultural richness. His letters aim at getting allies together for maintaining tonal value alongside its strong tradition.
This announcement has caught attention tied to larger discussions around language diversity throughout India—showing real cultural divides over enforced language practices especially clear in southern areas like TN valuing local tongues strongly.
