Damascus: The Syrian Ministry of Defense announced that Hezbollah militias launched artillery shells from Lebanon targeting Syrian army positions in central Syria.
The shells were fired at the Syrian Arab Army's positions in the al-Qusayr area, located west of Homs. Syrian forces responded by targeting the fire sources after identifying the launch sites.
Syria confirmed it is in contact with the Lebanese army to evaluate the situation and has halted strikes on Lebanese territory at their request. The Lebanese army has committed to sweeping the area for the responsible groups.
While the attack's casualties or material damage remain unspecified, Lebanon's state news agency reported that eight Syrian refugees were injured due to an explosion of a booby-trapped drone near the Syrian border.
Tensions between Syria and Lebanon have been escalating, particularly after accusations of Hezbollah's involvement in the abduction and killing of Syrian soldiers. Despite this, Hezbollah has not yet commented on the Syrian accusations.
