Islamabad: Pakistan’s Foreign Office has expressed concern over the loss of lives in a recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, a popular tourist destination in Indian-administered Kashmir. The attack has reportedly claimed the lives of at least 26 people and left several others injured.
In an official statement, the Foreign Office said: “We are deeply concerned over the loss of lives in a terrorist attack in Anantnag district of the Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). We extend our heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and pray for the swift recovery of the injured.”
The attack, which targeted civilians in the scenic region of Pahalgam, has raised alarm across India. Following the incident, security has been significantly heightened in the national capital, New Delhi, as well as across Jammu and Kashmir. Additional checkpoints have been established on all entry and exit points in the region to bolster security and prevent further incidents.
Authorities are continuing investigations, while the identities and affiliations of the attackers remain unclear. The tragic incident has once again brought the spotlight back on the fragile security situation in the region, especially amid ongoing political tensions.
