KANPUR: Two engineers have tragically died following botched hair transplant procedures carried out in a private clinic in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. The operations were allegedly carried out by Dr. Anushka Tiwari, a dentist, and Dr. Saurabh Tripathi, her husband-neither having the formal qualifications to perform such surgical procedures by virtue of BDS degrees.
The first death came to light when Jaya Tripathi, the wife of 40-year-old Vineet Dubey, lodged a complaint on the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister complaints portal. Dubey underwent a transplant at Empire Clinic in Rawatpur, Kanpur, and died not long after it. Reports suggest that a second engineer also died under similar circumstances, prompting police investigation to broaden the scope.
The couple is accused of running the clinic illegally and using untrained personnel to assist in surgical procedures. According to police, the clinic was not properly licensed and permitted to carry out any form of cosmetic surgery. Reports anticipate that some kind of blood poisoning arising from unhygienic conditions and poor execution might have led to the deaths.
The authorities have sealed the clinic and initiated legal action. The unfortunate events have incited public outrage and reignited demands for tighter regulation and monitoring of cosmetic and surgical clinics across India.
