Moon Village Association (MVA), a non-governmental organization promoting global collaboration in lunar development, has partnered with the UAE to establish the Moon Village Centre in Abu Dhabi. This partnership will make Abu Dhabi the host city for key lunar events, including the International Moon Day celebrations in July 2025 and the MVA’s 9th Annual Workshop and Symposium in November 2025. This collaboration highlights the UAE's growing influence in the space industry and its commitment to space innovation and diplomacy. International Moon Day, celebrated on July 20 each year, marks the anniversary of the first moon landing in 1969 and aims to raise awareness of sustainable lunar exploration.
2025 International Moon Day, will feature a main event in Abu Dhabi and smaller events globally across six continents. The MVA Workshop and Symposium will bring together space agencies, governments, industry leaders, and experts to discuss sustainable lunar exploration. UAE officials, including Dr. Giuseppe Reibaldi, MVA President, and Dr. Nasr Al-Sahhaf, Chair of the UN International Moon Day, emphasized the UAE’s key role in advancing humanity's presence on the Moon. Dr. Salem Bin Abdullah Alwahshi, CEO of the Emirates Council for Work Relations Development, highlighted the alignment between the UAE's goals and the Moon Village vision of advancing civilization and improving life for all.
