Brussels: UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer has stated that the defense of the country, Europe, and Ukraine is currently the most important issue in the world.
Speaking to the media on Thursday, Starmer highlighted the significance of long-term peace, which he believes will end the war and enable Ukraine to make its own decisions.
When asked about potential military aid to Ukraine, he said that what truly matters is a sustainable peace agreement. He added that if any deal is reached, the UK will support it.
Starmer emphasized that the government should focus on what potential security guarantees could be provided. He also assured that the UK will take a leading role in this effort.
According to reports, around 20 countries have expressed interest in joining an alliance to support Ukraine.
British officials stated that discussions in a recent meeting revolved around security guarantees that could be provided after any peace agreement.
It was also revealed that while there was no mention of all European and Commonwealth nations deploying their troops to Ukraine, some countries might offer assistance in other ways.
