RIYADH: Lydia Arthur, Assistant Director-General of UNESCO, recently visited the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) and the International Centre for Research and Ethics in Artificial Intelligence (ICAIRE) in Riyadh.

During her visit, Arthur was briefed on Saudi Arabia’s advancements in the AI sector and the Kingdom’s strong support for ICAIRE, which operates under UNESCO’s umbrella, according to the report.

Arthur praised Saudi Arabia’s regulatory framework for AI, particularly its ethics-centered approach, calling it a global model that should be adopted more broadly.

She also reviewed ICAIRE’s work in promoting the responsible and ethical use of AI, aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

ICAIRE focuses on advancing AI ethics and research through international cooperation, awareness-building, skills development, and policy advising, as outlined on its official platform.
