UP Police Arrest Man For Spying For Pakistan’s Intelligence

Moradabad: The Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) has arrested a man from Rampur district for allegedly spying for Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and financing ISI agents operating within India. The suspect, identified as Shehzad, a resident of Tanda, was apprehended in Moradabad following a specific intelligence input.

According to a report, Shehzad had been under surveillance after ATS received a tip-off suggesting his involvement in illegal cross-border activities. Investigations revealed that he had been secretly crossing the India-Pakistan border for years, smuggling goods such as cosmetics, spices, clothes, and electronic items.

More alarmingly, Shehzad is accused of maintaining active contact with ISI operatives, passing on sensitive information related to national security and allegedly lending money to other ISI-linked individuals in India. Authorities believe his financial support network may have helped expand ISI’s influence across parts of northern India.

His arrest comes just days after Haryana Police detained travel blogger Jyoti Rani on similar espionage charges, raising concerns about a broader network of ISI sympathizers within the country.

The ATS is currently interrogating the suspect to uncover potential accomplices and deeper links to Pakistan's spy agency. A case under relevant sections of national security and anti-terror laws has been registered.
