US Airstrikes on Yemen’s Houthis as Israel-Hamas Ceasefire Talks Continue

Jerusalem: According to reports regarding US officials' series of airstrikes against Yemen’s Houthi rebels in the Red Sea port of Hodeidah, with the death toll from Sunday's attacks now rising to 53, including five children.

The strikes were carried out as the United States promised to continue its campaign until the Houthis abandoned their threat to resume attacks on Israel-linked ships.

Meanwhile, in Gaza, Israel is continuing its military operations and maintaining a strict blockade of the Strip. An Israeli delegation recently travelled to Cairo to discuss details of an ongoing ceasefire with Egyptian officials. Meanwhile, Gaza’s Health Ministry has confirmed that at least 48,572 Palestinians have been killed and 112,032 injured in Israel’s war on Gaza, while the Government Media Office has updated the death toll to over 61,700, with thousands presumed dead under the rubble.

Additionally, it is important to remember that the conflict escalated after Hamas-led attacks on Israel on October 7, 2023, which resulted in the deaths of at least 1,139 Israelis and the capture of over 200 individuals.

The US airstrikes on Yemen come as a direct response to the renewed threats by the Houthis, who have a history of targeting international shipping and have previously engaged in missile and drone attacks against Israel in solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza. The strikes are part of a broader strategy by US officials to pressure the Houthis into backing down, ensuring that regional security and maritime trade are not further destabilized.
