Rawalpindi: A U.S. Congressional delegation led by Representative Jack Bergman met with Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, General Syed Asim Munir, to discuss matters of mutual interest, with a particular emphasis on regional security and defense cooperation.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), both sides underscored the importance of continued engagement based on mutual respect, shared values, and converging strategic interests.
The U.S. delegation commended the key role of Pakistan’s armed forces in the global fight against terrorism and acknowledged Pakistan’s consistent efforts for regional peace and stability. The visiting lawmakers expressed a strong commitment to enhancing broad-based bilateral cooperation, particularly in the areas of security, trade, investment, and economic development.
General Asim Munir thanked the delegation for their visit and reaffirmed Pakistan’s desire to further deepen and diversify its longstanding partnership with the United States.
During the meeting, Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) were also signed to facilitate training cooperation in the field of information technology.
