KABUL: The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan has welcomed the recent remarks of Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, who highlighted the importance of constructive engagement with Afghanistan.
Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesperson for the Islamic Emirate, described the relationship between Kabul and Tashkent as positive, emphasizing that Uzbekistan has a strong grasp of Afghanistan’s current realities.
“The Islamic Emirate values the statements made by the esteemed president of Uzbekistan,” Mujahid said. “His remarks reflect the facts that should be acknowledged. The two neighboring nations are advancing their policies in the spirit of mutual interests and good relations. We hope, by God’s will, to see further progress in economic and diplomatic cooperation.”
President Mirziyoyev, speaking a day earlier, reiterated Uzbekistan’s pragmatic stance toward Afghanistan, asserting that sustainable development in the country is unattainable without active cooperation with its neighbors. He also underscored Uzbekistan’s willingness to collaborate with the European Union and international partners to support Afghanistan’s growth.
“In this regard, we stand ready to work alongside the European Union and other global partners to advance positive initiatives that will help Afghanistan not only navigate its current challenges but also achieve long-term development,” the Uzbek president said. “At this stage, our key priority should be to continue supporting Afghanistan in the education sector. I firmly believe that stabilizing Afghanistan and aiding its reconstruction align with the shared interests of Central Asian nations and the European Union.”
President Mirziyoyev has previously stressed Afghanistan’s significance to regional stability, referring to the country as an inseparable part of Central Asia during a UN conference.
