Vance: Ukraine Must Negotiate to Secure U.S. Aid, Trump Committed to Mineral Deal

Washington: Vice President JD Vance told reporters on Capitol Hill that Ukraine must engage in negotiations if it wants to secure further aid from the United States. He also reaffirmed President Donald Trump’s commitment to a rare minerals deal involving Ukraine.

Speaking to journalists, Vance acknowledged the bravery of Ukrainian forces but emphasized that the war could not continue indefinitely. “Neither the United States, Europe, nor Ukraine can sustain this conflict forever,” he said. “It’s crucial that all parties come to the table.”

Vance made it clear that the U.S. is pushing Ukraine to begin discussions, particularly regarding a mineral resources agreement that Trump supports. “The President is sending a direct message—the Ukrainians need to start negotiations with President Trump on the mineral deal,” he stated.

When asked if the deal was still viable, Vance expressed confidence. “Absolutely. The President remains committed, and we’ve received some encouraging signs. However, Ukraine has yet to sign on,” he noted.

The vice president also criticized Ukraine’s approach to negotiations, accusing the country of failing to engage in good faith. Additionally, he argued that the current aid distribution was unfair to American taxpayers. “It’s unacceptable that European nations are getting a better deal than the American people,” he said.
