Vikram Misri Says India Responds to Threats With Measured Military Moves

NEW DELHI:  Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri stated that Indian intelligence had received credible information about impending terror strikes, prompting swift military action to prevent further violence. Misri emphasized that the strikes were measured, targeted, and not aimed at escalating regional tensions.

The Indian government holds the banned militant group 'The Resistance Front' (TRF) responsible for the Pahalgam attack, alleging its operatives were trained in Pakistan. India also links TRF to Lashkar-e-Taiba, a well-known extremist organization. While a social media post initially claimed TRF was behind the attack, the group later denied responsibility.

According to Indian officials, the attack in Pahalgam was intended to disrupt peace and normalcy in Jammu and Kashmir, highlighting the continuing threat posed by cross-border terrorism. In contrast, Pakistan has strongly denied any involvement in the Pahalgam attack and has condemned India's military actions.

India's latest military response is seen as part of a broader strategy to counter state-sponsored terrorism, while attempting to avoid a full-scale conflict. The international community is closely monitoring the situation as tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbors remain high.

This development underscores the fragile security situation in the region and the ongoing conflict over terrorism, sovereignty, and regional stability.
