New York: Hoda Kotb finally spoke out about who she believes should replace her on NBC’s Today show. The popular broadcaster commented during an appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen on Thursday, June 5.
Kotb, 60, left the morning show in January after a 17-year run. Craig Melvin stepped in as Savannah Guthrie’s new co-host.
At the same time, Jenna Bush Hager launched Today with Jenna and Friends, welcoming guest co-hosts like Scarlett Johansson, Keke Palmer, Dwyane Wade, Taraji P. Henson, Amy Poehler, and others.
When Cohen mentioned that it might be unlikely for Johansson to commit full-time, Kotb praised the Marvel star’s performance, saying, “Scarlett Johansson crushed it. She said it was her favourite job.”
Kotb went on to list her top choices for a permanent replacement. “The contenders are Savannah; I think she would be great. I think Justin Sylvester is amazing,” she shared.
She also mentioned Matt Rogers and longtime colleague Sheinelle Jones, adding, “Sheinelle is going through a horrible time, but I think she would be good. I feel like it’s whoever clicks great with Jenna.”
Kotb’s candid remarks have sparked buzz about who will eventually take the coveted spot. Sources include Kotb’s Watch What Happens Live interview and recent Today show developments.
