Apple has officially introduced the iPhone 16e, a new addition to the iPhone 16 lineup, offering a more budget-friendly option for consumers. Priced at Dh2,599, the iPhone 16e is considerably cheaper than the iPhone 16, which starts at Dh3,399.
The iPhone 16e will be available in two matte finishes—black and white—with three storage options: 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB. Pre-orders open on Friday, February 21, with availability beginning on Friday, February 28.
“IPhone 16e delivers fast, smooth performance and breakthrough battery life, thanks to the industry-leading efficiency of the A18 chip and the new Apple C1, the first cellular modem designed by Apple,” the company announced in a statement.
The device is also built to support Apple Intelligence, the company’s AI-powered personal assistant introduced last year. “The iPhone 16e delivers helpful and relevant intelligence while prioritizing user privacy in AI,” Apple said.
Joining the iPhone 16 lineup, the 16e model features the A18 chip, Apple Intelligence integration, a robust battery life, and a 48MP 2-in-1 camera system.
Cutting-Edge Features
Apple highlighted the device’s 48MP Fusion camera, capable of capturing high-quality photos and videos. The integrated 2x Telephoto system acts as a second camera, allowing users to zoom in while maintaining optical quality.
For connectivity beyond cellular and Wi-Fi coverage, Apple’s satellite features—including Emergency SOS, Roadside Assistance, Messages, and Find My—ensure users stay connected during emergencies.
The iPhone 16e boasts a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR display with OLED technology, enhancing the experience for HDR video playback, gaming, and reading.
Extended Battery Life and Durability
Built to last, the iPhone 16e features splash, water, and dust resistance with an IP68 rating. Its Ceramic Shield front cover, described by Apple as the toughest smartphone glass available, adds durability.
Apple claims the iPhone 16e’s battery lasts up to six hours longer than the iPhone 11 and up to 12 hours longer than previous iPhone SE models. Face ID, powered by the TrueDepth camera system, allows seamless unlocking, authentication, and app sign-ins. The device supports both wireless charging and USB-C.
Enhanced AI and Functionality
Apple Intelligence enhances the user experience with AI-driven tools such as Clean Up for image editing, natural language search in Photos, and creative features like Image Playground, Genmoji, and Writing Tools. Siri has also been upgraded for more natural conversations, with ChatGPT integration for quick responses.
Additionally, the iPhone 16e includes an Action button for instant access to key functions like the camera and flashlight. Its visual intelligence capabilities enable users to translate text, identify objects and animals, and learn about places with ease.
With its competitive pricing, powerful hardware, and AI-driven capabilities, the iPhone 16e aims to bring the iPhone experience to a wider audience while maintaining Apple’s signature performance and innovation.
