RIYADH: Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al-Sheikh, Speaker of the Saudi Shoura Council, will lead the Kingdom’s delegation to the 38th Congress of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union, scheduled for May 3–4 in Algeria.
The high-level conference will host heads of parliaments and councils from across the Arab world.
In a press statement, Al-Sheikh reaffirmed the Kingdom’s commitment under the leadership of King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to supporting joint Arab initiatives, promoting regional unity, and fostering peace, security, and stability across the Arab world and beyond.
He emphasized the critical role of parliamentary cooperation in unifying regional efforts and enhancing collaboration on shared goals.
“Parliamentary work is a cornerstone in bringing Arab nations closer, aligning policies, and achieving sustainable development for a more secure and prosperous future,” he said.
On the sidelines of the congress, heads of parliaments are expected to hold a consultative meeting to further deliberate on the conference’s key topics.
Additionally, the union’s three permanent committees the Palestine Committee, the Social Affairs, Women, Children and Youth Committee, and the Political Affairs and Parliamentary Relations Committee will convene for regular sessions.
The event also includes the 38th session of the Executive Committee of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union, and the 46th meeting of the Association of Secretaries General of Arab Parliaments.
Joining Dr. Al-Sheikh in the Saudi delegation are Shoura Council Secretary-General Mohammed bin Dakheel Al-Mutairi, executive committee member Dr. Abdulaziz bin Ibrahim Al-Muhanna, and council members Abdullah bin Fahd Al-Husein, Khalid bin Mohammed Abu Malha, along with several other officials.
