Bhutan’s Army Chief Lt. Gen. Battu Tshering recently met with Indian Chief of Police General Anil Chouhan. The high-level military meeting focused on strengthening defense ties between the two neighbors and discussing regional security issues. Bhutan and India have strong diplomatic ties, especially in terms of defense, and India plays a key role in Bhutan’s security.
During the meeting, the two leaders emphasized the importance of continuing cooperation in areas such as military cooperation, intelligence sharing and counter-terrorism. They also reflected on the broader security challenges in the region, particularly in maintaining peace and security in the Himalayas. The meeting underlined the two countries’ determination to continue working together to secure the border and promote regional stability.
