DUBAI: Aster Volunteers UAE, the CSR arm of Aster DM Healthcare, has successfully recycled 750 kilograms of electronic waste during the fourth edition of its e-waste collection drive under the ‘Aster Green Choices’ initiative.
The campaign, conducted in collaboration with Dubai-based recycling partner E-Scrappy, involved the placement of collection boxes at nine Aster facilities across the UAE. Since its launch, the initiative has diverted a total of 1,998 kg of e-waste from landfills 496 kg in 2020, 318 kg in 2023, 434 kg in 2024, and 750 kg in 2025.
Participating locations included Aster Jubilee Medical Centre in Bur Dubai, Aster Hospitals in Mankhool, Qusais and Sharjah, Medcare Hospitals in Al Safa, Qusais and Sharjah, Aster Clinic Al Warqa, Aster’s corporate office in Al Diyafah, Aster Retail Warehouse in Dubai Investment Park, and Aster Cedars Hospital & Clinic in Jebel Ali. Volunteers also collected e-waste from nearby shops and residences.
All materials were processed by E-Scrappy, which issued Green Certificates to volunteers. Dr. Azad Moopen, Founder Chairman of Aster DM Healthcare, emphasized the importance of collective environmental action, citing the initiative’s alignment with Aster’s ESG strategy and 10 UN Sustainable Development Goals.
In addition to environmental efforts, over 70 volunteers recently participated in a blood donation drive at Aster Hospital Mankhool. “A single donation can save up to three lives,” said Aster Volunteer Abdul Shabad.
Across the GCC, 16 blood drives have been held this year, engaging 916 volunteers and potentially benefiting around 2,500 patients in the UAE, Oman, and Qatar.
