Washington: In a shocking turn during the ongoing federal sex-trafficking and racketeering case against Sean “Diddy” Combs, Cassie Ventura’s mother, Regina Ventura, testified that the music mogul demanded $20,000 and threatened her daughter’s safety.
The testimony was delivered in court on Tuesday and lasted about 40 minutes.
Regina stated that in December 2011, her daughter Cassie wrote a letter describing threats from Combs, including the release of explicit videos and potential harm to both her and her then-boyfriend, rapper Kid Cudi.
According to Regina, Diddy suggested he would be outside the U.S. if violence occurred. She also testified that Combs directly demanded $20,000 from her as repayment for what he claimed were investments in Cassie’s music career.
Due to financial hardship, Regina and her husband took out a home equity loan to pay the amount, calling the situation terrifying.
She recalled documenting injuries allegedly caused by Combs and described an incident where he refused to return Cassie’s phone, intensifying the conflict between the families.
This testimony adds to mounting claims from others involved in the high-profile case, including Diddy’s former assistant and an exotic dancer. Cassie Ventura remains at the centre of the allegations as the trial proceeds.
