London: Hampshire have signed Australian batter Chris Lynn for the remainder of their T20 Blast group stage campaign. The move comes as South African players Lhuan-dre Pretorius and Dewald Brevis left the squad due to national duties.
South Africa will play a two-Test series against Zimbabwe starting on 28 June. Lynn, 35, brings vast experience to the Hawks, scoring over 8,000 runs in 292 T20 matches. He previously played in the Blast for Northamptonshire Steelbacks and appeared 22 times for Australia. Lynn also has local ties, having played for Gosport Borough in Hampshire as a teenager.
“It’s great to return to Hampshire, this time as a pro,” said Lynn. He praised the Hawks’ success and hopes to help them reach Finals Day. His signing aims to strengthen the side’s playoff push amid a crucial stretch of six remaining group games.
