Peshawar: A deadly clash broke out once again in Kurram district, resulting in the deaths of a local resident and a police personnel. Additionally, the Assistant Commissioner of Upper Kurram and two other police personnel sustained serious injuries.
The incident occurred in the border village of Boshehra when gunfire was opened on a Sunni individual’s vehicle from a Shia area. In response, an exchange of gunfire ensued between the two sides.
Local source, Hakim Noor Mangal, informed Human Online that the Assistant Commissioner of Upper Kurram arrived at the scene to control the situation but was caught in the crossfire and sustained injuries. The local residents of Boshehra village shifted him to the hospital for treatment.
According to Human Online sources, two terrorists involved in the attack on Assistant Commissioner Kurram, Syed Manan, have been arrested. The suspects, identified as Iqrar Hussain and Maysam, residents of Fatah Kali Parachinar, have been handed over to the relevant authorities for further investigation.
Regional Police Officer (RPO) Kohat told that, investigations are ongoing to determine the motives behind the attack and identify any possible facilitators.
Expressing strong displeasure over the clash, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Minister of Information, Barrister Saif, stated that the people of Kurram must commit to maintaining peace themselves; otherwise, strict administrative action will be taken, which could lead to further distress and loss for everyone.
The incident comes at a time when the administration has been conducting operations in certain areas of Kurram, demolishing bunkers, and implementing security measures to ensure stability in the region۔
