Dozens Killed in Israeli Airstrikes Across Gaza, Claims Hamas-Run Health Ministry

Gaza: The Hamas-run Ministry of Health in Gaza has reported that 81 people were killed and more than 400 injured in Israeli airstrikes over the past 24 hours.

According to medical staff at Al-Shifa Hospital and eyewitnesses, at least 11 people, including children, were killed in an airstrike near a stadium in Gaza City. The stadium had been converted into a makeshift shelter for displaced civilians living in tents.

Footages shows civilians using their hands and shovels to recover bodies buried under sand following the attack.

Elsewhere, in the Al-Mawasi area, reports indicate that 14 people were killed in separate strikes targeting an apartment block and a tent, with children also among the casualties.

The Ministry of Health stated that on Saturday afternoon, an Israeli airstrike near Jaffa School killed eight people, including five children. The area had been serving as a refuge for hundreds of displaced Gaza residents.

Meanwhile, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced that it had killed a founding member of Hamas’s military wing.

In a statement released Saturday evening, the IDF claimed it eliminated Hakam Mohammad Issa Al-Issa, a senior leader of Hamas’s military wing, during an operation in the Sabra neighborhood of Gaza City on Friday.

According to the IDF, Al-Issa was one of the founding members of Hamas’s armed branch and a member of its General Security Council. He was allegedly involved in planning and executing the October 7, 2023, attacks on Israel.
