Former Captain Yousuf Ends NCA Coaching Stint With Grace

Lahore: Former Pakistan captain and legendary batter Mohammad Yousuf has officially stepped down from coaching at the National Cricket Academy (NCA), marking the end of his latest tenure with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

According to PCB sources, Yousuf tendered his resignation earlier this week, citing personal commitments as the reason for his departure. His decision comes amid ongoing adjustments in the national coaching setup ahead of Pakistan’s upcoming international fixtures.

The 50-year-old had been serving as the batting coach at the NCA, where he was tasked with mentoring and developing the next generation of Pakistani batters. Yousuf was also part of the national team’s coaching staff during the recent tour of New Zealand. Still, it was notably absent from the dugout during the home series against Bangladesh—an early indication of his planned exit.

Yousuf’s refined technique and vast experience made him a valuable asset in shaping the country’s future cricketing prospects. He had previously worked in both interim and permanent roles with the senior men’s side, often stepping in to assist during transitional periods.

While the PCB has yet to issue an official statement, insiders describe the separation as amicable. The door is reportedly still open for future collaboration should circumstances permit. As Pakistan Cricket overhauls its coaching and development structures, Yousuf’s departure will likely trigger further realignment within the NCA’s setup.

Whether this exit signals a permanent break from coaching duties or a temporary hiatus for one of the country’s finest cricketing minds remains to be seen.
