Paris:

France's Foreign Minister, Jean-Noël Barrot, has urged both Lebanon and Israel to take advantage of the opportunity for a ceasefire in the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hezbollah. Speaking to the press, Barrot emphasized that this moment should not be missed, calling for all parties to work towards a diplomatic solution that ensures both Israeli security and the territorial integrity of Lebanon.

Barrot’s statements align with those of U.S. envoy Amos Hochstein, who earlier this week expressed optimism about reaching a ceasefire during his visits to Lebanon and Israel.

When asked about the possibility of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visiting France amidst an arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court, Barrot dismissed it as a hypothetical question, stating that he had no answer to such a scenario. He further stressed that France would always apply international law, noting that the ICC's memorandum of charges represents a formal accusation, not a directive.
