Istanbul: Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, met on Saturday with Mamadou Sow, Head of the Regional Delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) for GCC countries, on the sidelines of the 51st session of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Council of Foreign Ministers in Istanbul.
The meeting focused on enhancing cooperation between the GCC and the ICRC to advance shared humanitarian and strategic objectives. Both sides also exchanged views on recent regional and international developments impacting the Gulf region.
Sow commended the GCC member states for their efforts in promoting regional security and stability, and for their ongoing contributions to humanitarian and relief work.
In recent weeks, the GCC and the ICRC have strengthened their partnership through high-level meetings to enhance joint humanitarian and relief efforts, with a focus on crisis zones such as Gaza and on capacity building for relief workers in GCC countries.
They have expanded cooperation through technical training sessions, humanitarian diplomacy exchanges, and volunteer integration programs, supporting conflict-affected populations in the region.
