Christchurch: New Zealand's Glenn Phillips left fans and cricket experts in awe with a remarkable one-handed catch during the first Test against England in Christchurch. The stunning effort dismissed England's Ollie Pope, who had been in excellent form, scoring 77 runs off 98 balls. The spectacular moment unfolded in the 53rd over of England’s innings, when Pope and Harry Brook had formed a strong 151-run partnership for the fifth wicket. With the game in the balance, Kiwi captain Tom Latham turned to fast bowler Tim Southee. The decision quickly paid off when Southee bowled a short, wide delivery outside the off stump, tempting Pope to cut it powerfully. Just as the ball looked destined for the boundary, Phillips, stationed at backward point, launched himself into the air, plucking the ball out of thin air with a one-handed catch that will be remembered as one of the finest moments of the match.
