Global Leaders Unite at Riyadh’s One Water Summit

Riyadh: Global leaders, including French President Emmanuel Macron and Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, convened at the One Water Summit in Riyadh to address pressing global water challenges. President Macron underscored the importance of minimizing water wastage and investing in technological innovations to combat scarcity. He revealed alarming statistics, noting that one in four people lacks access to safe drinking water, while half the world’s population faces insufficient water reserves.

Kazakh President Tokayev highlighted the devastating impacts of floods and storms, which annually affect 1.5 billion people worldwide. He advocated for early warning systems to safeguard coastal regions and vulnerable areas. The summit, co-chaired by Saudi Arabia, France, and Kazakhstan with World Bank support, aims to foster knowledge exchange, promote innovation, and develop sustainable water management solutions.
