Inter Milan’s Last-Minute Magic Downs Urawa in Club World Cup

Seattle: On Saturday, Inter Milan scored two dramatic goals in the final minutes to defeat Japan’s Urawa Red Diamonds 2-1 in a thrilling Club World Cup match at Lumen Field. Urawa took an early lead in the 11th minute, with Ryoma Watanabe finishing a sharp cutback assist from Takuro Kaneko.

Despite dominating possession and outshooting Urawa by 21 attempts, Inter failed to find the net until the 78th minute. Lautaro Martinez equalized with a spectacular bicycle kick off a corner from Nicolo Barella. In stoppage time, Valentin Carboni netted the winner with help from Francesco Esposito, just eight months after returning from a cruciate ligament injury.

Urawa nearly equalized in the dying seconds, but Interkeeper Yann Sommer made a crucial save. Inter now leads Group E and will face River Plate next, while Urawa, now eliminated, plays Monterrey.

Inter’s emotional win was significant for Carboni, who his coach praised for overcoming injury to deliver on the world stage. The match drew 25,090 fans, many of whom were Urawa supporters whose chants echoed until the final whistle.
