On February 5, 2025, U.S. President Donald Trump proposed that the United States "take over" the Gaza Strip, suggesting the relocation of its Palestinian residents to neighboring countries such as Egypt and Jordan. He envisioned transforming Gaza into a prosperous area, likening it to "the Riviera of the Middle East."

This proposal has been met with widespread international condemnation. The United Arab Emirates (UAE) issued a statement rejecting any attempts to displace Palestinians, emphasizing the importance of halting settlement activities that threaten regional stability and undermine opportunities for peace and coexistence.

Other Arab nations, including Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Jordan, have also expressed strong opposition. Saudi Arabia reaffirmed its unwavering position on establishing a Palestinian state, labeling the proposal as "non-negotiable."

International organizations and human rights groups have criticized the plan as a violation of international law and a form of ethnic cleansing. The United Nations Secretary-General warned against any form of ethnic cleansing in Gaza, underscoring the necessity of a two-state solution for lasting peace.

In summary, President Trump's proposal to take control of the Gaza Strip and relocate its Palestinian residents has been met with significant opposition from the international community, highlighting the complexities and sensitivities surrounding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
