BEIRUT: In a significant escalation, Israel has launched an attack in the central district of Beirut, resulting in the death of Hezbollah spokesperson Muhammad Afif. According to a report by Al Jazeera, Hezbollah officials confirmed that the strike targeted a building in the densely populated Ras al-Naba area, killing Afif and injuring three other officials.

Witnesses reported that the building was struck without any prior warning, causing several civilians to be displaced, who have since sought refuge in nearby areas.

In contrast, the Israeli military did not issue any evacuation orders on social media prior to the attack. The report indicates that this assault is part of Israel's ongoing strategy to target not only Hezbollah's military officials but also to eliminate other members of the organization.

Furthermore, Israeli efforts appear aimed at dismantling Hezbollah's capabilities across various sectors, including economic, social, political, and military domains.

Muhammad Afif had previously managed the Al-Manar television station for several years before becoming the head of Hezbollah's public relations. He frequently held press conferences addressing Israel's brutal actions and highlighted the destruction occurring in Beirut.

His last communication with media representatives was on November 11, during which he stated that the Israeli military lacked the capability to occupy any area within Lebanon. Afif asserted that Hezbollah possesses sufficient weapons and resources to sustain a prolonged conflict.

This incident marks a significant blow for Hezbollah, coming on the heels of the death of former leader Hassan Nasrallah at the end of September, who was also killed in an Israeli strike on a residential building in the Dahieh area of Beirut.
