In the Indian state of Manipur, tensions have risen during ethnic riots, prompting authorities to shut down internet and mobile services and impose an indefinite curfew. Protesters are reportedly besieging the homes of politicians.

According to a report by Reuters, security forces have confirmed that three more bodies were found during the riots, believed to belong to members of the majority Meitei tribe.

A representative of the Meitei tribe stated that the three deceased individuals were from a family whose six members had been taken captive by a group from the Kuki tribe.

A senior police official mentioned that a large number of protesters had gathered, demanding meetings with Members of Parliament in the state capital, Imphal. On the condition of anonymity, he reported that when the protesters' demands were ignored, they stormed the homes of politicians, set vehicles on fire, and vandalized properties.

Security officials noted that protesters have besieged the homes of nine assembly members and vandalized four residences.

Omblil L. Sushendro Meitei, a member of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), stated via phone from another location that his home is currently under attack, and reports indicate that a mob has surrounded several houses.
