Khawaja Nafay’s Intense Training Ignites Hope for Cricket Stardom

Lahore: Rising Pakistani cricketer Khawaja Nafay has revealed his intense training at the ongoing Skills Development Camp, aimed at sharpening both his physical game and mindset. Speaking to the media, Nafay said the camp has already brought notable improvement. “We’re playing around 800 balls a day. It helps with muscle strength and quick play, especially against spinners,” he said.

Nafay is currently focusing on power-hitting under the guidance of Abdul Razzaq. He also shared a memorable encounter with West Indies legend Vivian Richards, who advised him always to play confidently. “He told me that self-belief makes the toughest shots look easy,” Nafay recalled.

The 23-year-old middle-order batter plans to maintain the same training intensity post-camp and improve his wicketkeeping skills. Known for his domestic T20 performance, Nafay has played in the PSL for Quetta Gladiators and in the BPL for two teams.

He is now preparing for his Global Super League debut with Rangpur Riders, where he’ll play alongside fellow Pakistanis Iftikhar Ahmed and Akif Javed. The GSL 2025 will run from July 10 to 18 in Guyana.
