Orlando: Manchester City stormed past Juventus with a dominant 5-2 win in Thursday’s Club World Cup Group G finale. The match, played in Orlando, saw City take control early through a stunning ninth-minute strike from Jeremy Doku, who continued his standout performance throughout the game.
Juventus responded quickly with a goal from Teun Koopmeiners in the 11th minute, but a defensive error by Pierre Kalulu gave City a 2-1 lead in the 26th minute. Erling Haaland made it 3-1 in the 52nd minute, marking his 300th career goal for club and country. Phil Foden added a fourth just minutes after coming off the bench, while Savinho hammered in the fifth after Haaland’s header bounced off the crossbar.
Juventus pulled one back in the 84th minute through Dusan Vlahovic, but it was too late. With three wins from three matches, City topped Group G with 9 points and 13 goals. They will face Saudi Arabia’s Al Hilal on Monday in Orlando.
Juventus, finishing second, will play Real Madrid in Miami Gardens on Tuesday. The result marked City’s first win over Juventus since 1976 and underlined their dominance in the group stage.
