The city of Khobar came alive this weekend as families gathered for a lively cultural event for children, featuring a fusion of traditional arts, crafts and performances. The event aimed to inspire young minds by celebrating Saudi Arabia’s rich cultural heritage. Held at King Fahd Park, the two-day event attracted hundreds of children and their families, offering a fun-filled environment filled with educational and creative activities. From traditional dance performances to art workshops, the event was designed to encourage children to explore their cultural roots while engaging in hands-on learning.

Local artists and performers took to the stage to showcase Saudi Arabia’s diverse traditions. The event was marked by the traditional Arda dance, performed by the region’s youth in colorful costumes, which amazed the attendees and introduced the younger generations to this iconic form of cultural expression.

“Our goal is to provide children with the opportunity to learn about their heritage in an interactive way. It is important for the next generation to connect with their roots,” said Amal Al-Saud, the event’s organizer.

The event also included art workshops where children could create their own traditional crafts, such as woven palm fronds and decorative ceramics, under the guidance of skilled artisans. There were also storytelling sessions where children listened to ancient Arabic tales, allowing them to better understand local folklore. Families can enjoy a variety of games, food stalls offering traditional food and stalls selling handicrafts. The event fostered a sense of community, bringing people of all ages together to celebrate the country’s rich cultural mosaic.

“We are very happy to have such an exciting event in Khobar,” said mother Sarah Al-Mohammed. “It is not only fun, but also educational for our children. They learn a lot about our culture in a short time.”

The event was part of a city-wide initiative to promote cultural awareness and preserve Saudi Arabia’s rich traditions. With the rise of digital media and global influences, these cultural festivals have become essential in helping the younger generation appreciate and preserve their heritage.

When the children’s cultural activities came to an end, it was clear that the success of this gathering highlighted the importance of preserving culture in today’s modern world. The children of Khobar left with new knowledge, new memories and a greater appreciation of their cultural identity, making the event a truly meaningful experience for the entire community.
