New York : Pakistan has called on the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) to take global action against the threat posed by Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) Majid Brigade, which operates from Afghanistan.
Speaking at a UNSC briefing, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Munir Akram, strongly rejected allegations of Daesh recruitment within Pakistan. He emphasized that while the threat of Daesh is acknowledged globally, the specific threats faced by Pakistan are often overlooked.
Ambassador Akram highlighted that Daesh’s influence has spread beyond the region, requiring a comprehensive international response. He also proposed the establishment of a subsidiary body under the UN General Assembly to ensure better implementation of counterterrorism strategies.
