Pakistan vs Myanmar: Momentous AFC Asian Cup Qualifier Match Today

Islamabad: Pakistan’s national football team is ready to battle Myanmar today in a vital AFC Asian Cup 2027 qualifier, head coach Stephen Constantine said ahead of the match in Yangon. The clash, scheduled for 3:30 PM Pakistan Standard Time, marks an important test for the team’s progress under Constantine’s leadership.

During a pre-match press conference on June 9, Constantine acknowledged the tough challenge but expressed confidence in his squad’s preparation and fighting spirit.

“We have a good group of players. They have worked hard and will try to win the game,” he stated, as per the Pakistan Football Federation.

Pakistan lost their opening Group E match 2-0 to Syria but showed promising signs during the contest. Constantine stressed the need to build on that performance and maintain positive momentum from an improved 2024 campaign.

“We played quite well against Syria despite the result. Every single game for Pakistan is important,” he added.

After a recent victory, Myanmar will enjoy home advantage at Yangon’s Thuwunna Stadium and are considered favourites.

However, Constantine made it clear that Pakistan was not there to concede defeat. “They will be favourites, but we will fight in every game. We didn’t come here to lose,” he asserted.

Under Constantine’s guidance, Pakistan’s players have shown steady progress in recent months. The team now hopes to convert hard work and resilience into a crucial victory on the road.
