RIYADH: The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday praised Jordan for successfully thwarting a series of plots aimed at destabilizing the country and inciting chaos.
In an official statement, the Kingdom reaffirmed its full support for the actions taken by Jordanian security forces and expressed solidarity with Jordan in facing any threats to its national security and stability.
The statement followed an announcement by Jordan’s General Intelligence Directorate, which revealed the arrest of 16 individuals involved in coordinated plans to disrupt the country's security.
The plots, monitored since 2021, were reportedly designed to cause chaos and material destruction.
Authorities confiscated explosives, firearms, a concealed and ready-to-launch Katyusha rocket, and drone blueprints.
Investigations uncovered recruitment and training efforts intended to establish operational networks both inside and outside Jordan.
Jordanian government spokesman Mohammad Al-Momani said the suspects were involved in four major cases, including smuggling explosives and manufacturing rockets using foreign-sourced materials.
Warehouses with reinforced concrete and hidden rooms were also found in Zarqa and Amman.
Five individuals were detained for conducting unauthorized training and recruiting operatives.
The suspects are reportedly linked to a disbanded, unlicensed political group, the identity of which remains undisclosed.
All cases have been referred to Jordan’s State Security Court for further legal action.
