RIYADH: Madinah has achieved an 82 percent satisfaction rate in quality of life, reflecting a 16 percent improvement over previous results, according to a survey conducted by the Madinah municipality.
The survey, which included responses from over 75,220 residents and citizens, highlighted growing public approval of recent upgrades in infrastructure, public services, and urban planning, in line with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 objectives.
Urban landscape satisfaction rose to 78 percent, an 18 percent increase due to improvements in pedestrian pathways, smart lighting, and building facades. Satisfaction with road quality jumped by 27 percent to 62 percent, following enhancements in road design and lighting systems.
General cleanliness received an 81 percent approval rating, while neighborhood cleanliness stood at 71 percent. Environmental sanitation satisfaction climbed to 61 percent, up by 28 percent, credited to better pest control, rainwater drainage, and quicker municipal responses.
Waste management services, particularly in handling construction and demolition debris, received a 69 percent satisfaction score. Meanwhile, 71 percent of respondents were satisfied with direct municipal services, and 64 percent with indirect services, supported by digital platforms.
Public amenities recorded a 68 percent satisfaction rate after the municipality developed more than 14 new parks, increasing green space per capita to 2.1 square meters.
Community engagement was also recognized, with 68 percent of participants expressing satisfaction with their involvement in local decision-making through open forums and communication channels.
The municipality affirmed that the results demonstrate its commitment to transparency and resident-centered development, using the data to guide future initiatives aimed at further improving livability.
Madinah's efforts also enhanced its tourism profile, earning it 88th place globally in Euromonitor International’s 2024 Top 100 City Destinations Index and seventh worldwide in the Tourism Performance Index.
