Saudi Arabia’s logistics sector has made big waves, with 22 logistics hubs now spread over 34 million sq. meters. This includes six hubs in the Eastern Province and five in Makkah, which alone covers 20 million sq. meters. Riyadh, Makkah, and the Eastern Province lead in warehouse space, with Riyadh taking up 52.9% of the total.
There are different types of warehouses, such as general ones, humidity-controlled ones, and refrigerated spaces. General warehouses make up the largest portion, with 55.6% of all licenses.
Maritime transport is the strongest, handling over 308 million tonnes of goods, while land, rail, and air handle smaller quantities.
Vision 2030’s investments, including $106 billion for transport projects and $4.5 billion for ports, are helping expand infrastructure. Big projects like NEOM are also boosting demand for logistics. Warehouses were 97% full in mid-2024, and cities like Riyadh and Jeddah are hotspots for global companies.
Digital solutions are growing too, with faster deliveries and more e-commerce apps entering the market. With this progress, Saudi Arabia is moving closer to becoming a global logistics leader.
