Saudi Red Crescent Conducts Emergency Air Ambulance Test at Grand Mosque

MAKKAH: The Saudi Red Crescent Authority has successfully conducted a test landing of an emergency air ambulance on a newly built helipad within the Third Saudi Expansion of the Grand Mosque in Makkah. The initiative aims to enhance medical evacuation capabilities during the peak pilgrimage season.

Designed for swift patient transport, the modern helipad ensures rapid air ambulance operations, facilitating the evacuation of patients to nearby hospitals.

A video released by the Emirate of Makkah captured the air ambulance landing in the mosque’s courtyard. The aircraft, fully equipped with a medical stretcher and vital signs monitors, completed a trial run before its official deployment.

To further strengthen emergency medical response, the authority has established two helipads at the Grand Mosque. These facilities will accelerate the evacuation of critical cases to hospitals in Makkah and Jeddah, ensuring timely medical intervention for Hajj and Umrah pilgrims.

Additionally, the Grand Mosque’s emergency hospital is fully equipped with intensive care units, medical laboratories, radiology services, an in-house pharmacy, and isolation units for infectious diseases, reinforcing its role in providing top-tier healthcare services.
