 DUBAI– Recent research highlights that drinking coffee during the morning hours may offer significant health benefits, particularly for heart health. The study, published in the European Heart Journal, emphasizes that timing is important in maximizing coffee’s positive effects.

According to researchers from Tulane University, US, individuals who consumed coffee in the morning had a 16% lower risk of dying from any cause and were 31% less likely to die from cardiovascular disease compared to non-coffee drinkers. Interestingly, those who consumed coffee throughout the day did not experience the same health benefits.

Why Morning Coffee is Beneficial

Morning coffee consumption aligns with the body’s natural circadian rhythm. Cortisol levels peak in the early hours, and drinking coffee during this time may boost alertness without overstimulating the body. Additionally, moderate caffeine intake in the morning has been associated with improved blood circulation, reduced inflammation, and enhanced metabolism.

Additional Research Findings

  1. Antioxidants in Coffee: Coffee is rich in antioxidants like chlorogenic acid, which help reduce oxidative stress—a key factor in heart disease.

Limitations and Recommendations

While the findings underscore the benefits of morning coffee, researchers caution against excessive consumption. Experts recommend limiting intake to 2-3 cups per day to avoid negative effects like insomnia or increased heart rate. They also suggest opting for black coffee or using minimal sugar and milk to maximize health benefits.

This study further supports the role of lifestyle habits in preventing heart disease and highlights how small adjustments, like timing your coffee, can make a significant difference.
